Access to Online Services

Access to ANU online services is via an identifier and password (your UniID and password). This combination gives you access to all ANU-wide information resources and services. As a member of the University community, it is your responsibility to be aware of the University's Acceptable Use Policy, and to keep your information secure.

For more information see Policies and Procedures

Student Access

Students can access ANU online services using an identifier and password. When you enrol at ANU you are assigned a University Identifier (UniID) in the form of u1234567, which is printed on your student card in the bottom right-hand corner. Your UniID is permanent, however, please note that your UniID is not secret.

You are also assigned a password. Your initial password is generated by a computer and is given to you at enrolment.

You log in and authenticate yourself to the ANU information services by typing both your UniID and password. Please note that your password is secret. Only you should know your password. It controls access to your enrolments, grades and quotas.

You can change your secret password at any time using the online Interactive Student Information Service (ISIS). We recommend that the first time you log into ISIS you change your password to something you can remember and that you change it once every 30 days for security reasons.

Your UniID and password combination gives you access to all ANU information resources and services. You do not need different passwords for different services.

Staff Access

Staff can access ANU online services using an identifier and password. In many cases staff members will have two different sets of identifier/passwords. One set gives you access to your local desktop computer, and the other set gives you access to University-wide information systems.

The identifier and password for your local desktop computer are provided to you by your LITSS (Local Information Technology Support Staff).

For access to University-wide information systems you are assigned a University Identifier (UniID) in the form of u1234567. Your UniID remains the same throughout your time at ANU. Please note that your UniID is not secret.

You are also given a secret password that corresponds to your UniID. This password is provided to you by your LITSS. You gain access to ANU-wide information services by entering both your UniID and its corresponding password.

You can change your password at any time using the HR Online Remote User Services (HORUS). We recommend that the first time you log into HORUS you change your password to something you can remember and that you change it once every 30 days for security reasons.

For more information see HORUS - Personal Details

Off-Campus Network Access

Most ANU online services can be accessed from off campus. However, access to some online services is restricted to ANU users. This could be because the information has licensing restrictions or because the information is only relevant to people associated with the University.

When you request a restricted page from off campus, you will be asked to verify that you are a member of ANU by entering your UniID and password.

If you are having problems accessing ANU webpages or online services from off campus, visit the Reverse Proxy Login site which allows you to view ANU-only web pages.
