ISIS (Interactive Student Information Service) is a web-based system that allows you to access your personal and academic information. It is your online interface with Student and Academic Services (SAS). You can access ISIS at http://isis.anu.edu.au. There is also a link to ISIS on the Students' Page; select the ISIS option from the icons at the top of the ANU Students' page.
For more information see http://isis.anu.edu.au
Accessible information includes:
You log into ISIS using your UniID and password. It is important to log out when you are finished to ensure all your personal information is secure.
The first time you access ISIS you will be using a computer-generated password issued at the time of enrolment. It is important to enter it exactly because it is case sensitive. You should immediately change it to a password that you can remember easily. It is important to remember your password because you need to use it and your UniID whenever you access the internet, ISIS, email, and any Information Commons computer on campus.
A password must be at least six characters in length. It is recommended that you change your password every 30 days and use a varied combination of characters and numbers for security reasons.
To change your password, log into ISIS; there is a link to ISIS from the icons at the top of the Students' Page.
Once you have logged in click on Personal Details (top of the left-hand menu), and click on Change Password. You will be asked to enter your old password, to enter your new password, and to confirm your new password. Make sure you click on Save.
No one except you has access to your password, and it is not stored anywhere on campus. If you have forgotten your password, there is no way to retrieve it. The password will need to be reset.
You will need to go to an AskANU IT Consultant in the JB Chifley Building and show some photo ID as proof of identity. This cannot be done over the phone.
For more information see Section 10.2 AskANU and Section 11 Policies and Procedures
You complete your enrolment at ANU using ISIS; there is no other way to enrol. When you access ISIS for the first time you are obliged to follow certain steps to complete your enrolment before you can access the other functions in ISIS. These steps are called the Enrolment Checklist.
Some of the steps in the checklist are to ensure your personal details are up to date; other steps are to fulfil statistical requirements for the government. As you complete each task the status of the task changes from ‘Not Completed' to ‘Completed'. You may log out half way through and log back in later to work on any uncompleted tasks. Your enrolment is not finalised until you have completed every item on the checklist. This information includes your:
Students who are new to ANU will receive documentation on how to complete the Enrolment Checklist. On official enrolment days, new students have an opportunity to speak to College staff and get advice on suitable courses. Then students can use the University computers to complete the Enrolment Checklist. Staff members are on hand to give assistance.
Should assistance be required outside of these times, use the Help icon available on each page of the Checklist.
Assistance can also be obtained from Student and Academic Services by emailing sbs.help@anu.edu.au or phoning 612 55467.
ISIS lets you maintain all your personal information online under the Personal Details menu. The University uses these details to communicate with you, so it is essential that you keep them up to date. The more information you provide, the easier it is for the University to contact you when necessary. All your details are treated as confidential. You should note that changes to Name, Date of Birth and Gender can't be made through ISIS. You must contact Student and Academic Services in person to change these details.
Your primary contact is your mailing address. You can also specify separate home, billing, temporary, or campus addresses. You would add a billing address if you would like your bills/invoices forwarded to a third party.
You have the opportunity to enter several email addresses and to mark one as preferred, but this will not change the fact that all official University email will go to your ANU email address. If you don't check your ANU email, you must forward your ANU email to your preferred mailer through the Online Account Management System (OLAMS) service.

A confidential ANU Emergency SMS Broadcast service has been established as one of a number of means of alerting staff and students should a campus emergency arise. Mobile phone numbers which have been registered to the Campus Emergencies Database will receive SMS text messages during an emergency. You can register your mobile phone number with the Campus Emergencies Database in ISIS. The service is available to any mobile phone used by staff or students.
To register or update your mobile phone number, go to the Personal Details section and enter your mobile number under Campus Emergency Contact Number.
While this is not the only method that will be used to contact staff and students in the event of an emergency, it is useful when there is a need to limit the number of people on campus and when people may need to be notified at home or on the way to ANU
Under the Students menu, you can view your
Once you are enrolled, you can use ISIS to drop and add courses. However, you can only use ISIS to change your courses during the first two weeks of a semester.
Requests to change courses after that time must be made using a Course Variation form (available from Student and Academic Services in the Pauline Griffin Building 11) and are only accepted if the lecturer in charge of the course certifies that you have been attending classes and the Program Authority supports the addition.
No course may be added under any circumstances after the semester census date (31 March for first semester and 31 August for second semester courses).
After each formal examination period your course results are made available to you through ISIS. Results are not published anywhere else, nor is there any other means to notify you of your results. You can check your results by going to Academic History on the menu and selecting the appropriate semester.
