HORUS

HORUS (HR Online Remote User Services) is a web-based system that allows you to access your personal and administrative information. Through HORUS you can undertake a number of other activities including updating your personal information, registering for emergency SMS and registering for training programs.

 For more information see http://horus.anu.edu.au

Accessible information includes:

You can also change your password (under Personal Details). Please note that you cannot view your password via HORUS (or any other utility).

You log into HORUS using your UniID and password. It is important to log out when you are finished to ensure all your personal information remains secure.

Passwords

The first time you access HORUS you will be using your UniID and a password, probably issued to you by your LITSS (Local Information Technology Support Staff). It is important to enter it exactly, as it is case sensitive. You should immediately change it to a password that you can remember easily. It is important to remember your password, because you will need this password and your UniID when you access HORUS, your email, the Library catalogue, or any Information Commons computing facility on campus.

A password must be at least six characters in length. It is recommended that you change your password every 30 days and use a varied combination of characters and numbers for security reasons.

To change your password log into HORUS from the Staff Page; the link to HORUS is located under Resources on the left-hand menu of the Staff Page.

Once you have logged in click on Personal Details (top of the left-hand menu), and click on Change Password. You will be asked to enter your old password, to enter your new password, and to confirm your new password. Make sure you click on Save.

No one at all has access to your password, and it is not stored anywhere on campus. If you have forgotten your password, there is no way to retrieve it. The password will need to be reset.

You will need to go to your LITSS and arrange for them to do it for you or alternatively you can contact the Help Desk at 612 59666.

For more information see Policies and Procedures

Personal Details

HORUS lets you maintain all your personal information online under the Personal Details menu. The University will use these details to communicate with you, so it is essential to keep them up-to-date. The more information you provide, the easier it will be for the University to contact you in times of need. All your details are confidential. You should note that changes to name, date of birth and gender can’t be made through HORUS. You must contact Human Resources in person to change these details.

Postal Addresses

Your primary contact is your mailing address. You can also specify separate home, billing, temporary, or campus addresses. You would add a billing address if you would like your bills/invoices forwarded to a third party.

Email Addresses

You have the opportunity to enter several email addresses and to mark one as preferred, but this will not change the fact that all official University email will go to your ANU email account. If you don’t check your ANU email, you must forward your ANU email to your preferred mailer through the Online Account Management System (OLAMS) service.

For more information see https://olams.anu.edu.au and Forwarding Your Email

Alternatively, your LITSS can help you to forward your ANU email to your preferred email address.

Emergency SMS System

A confidential ANU Emergency SMS Broadcast service has been established as one of a number of means of alerting staff and students should a campus emergency arise. Mobile phone numbers which have been registered to the Campus Emergencies Database will receive SMS text messages during an emergency. You can register your mobile phone number with the Campus Emergencies Database in HORUS. The service is available to any mobile phone used by staff or students.

To register or update your mobile phone number, go to the Personal Details section and enter your mobile number under Campus Emergency Contact Number.

While this is not the only method that will be used to contact staff and students in the event of an emergency, it is useful when there is a need to limit the number of people on campus and when people may need to be notified at home or on the way to ANU

Training Catalogue

There are many training courses available for staff through the HORUS Training Catalogue. It is possible to enrol online, as well as to change your enrolment should the need arise. Courses range from professional development to first aid to different software packages to University systems like Student 21.
